Laponia
The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Laponia offers unique experiences all year round. Laponia is one of Europe's largest protected natural areas. But it is also much more than mountains and nature.
It is a vibrant area where Sémi culture and reindeer herding are still a natural part of the landscape. That is also why Laponia is a World Heritage Site, both for its natural and cultural values.
Winter and spring winter
When the snow comes, the landscape changes completely.
The area is then well-suited for:

An area that changes with the seasons
The special thing about Laponia is that the area is available year-round.
- Winter with snow and ski touring
- Spring-winter with long sunny days
- Summer with midnight sun
- Autumn with colours and clear air
- No season is quite the same as the other.
Things to consider
Laponia is a protected area. This means that you need to:
- Show consideration for nature
- Respect reindeer herding and wildlife
- Be prepared for changes in the weather
- Bring the right equipment
Many areas are far from service and coverage.
Laponia is an area where nature and culture still go hand in hand.
- Mountains and national parks
- Sámi culture and reindeer herding
- Hiking, skiing and nature experiences all year round
It doesn't have to be more complicated than that.
Get out and experience the area at your own pace.- Returning visitors
